ABC Future Fund - Frequently Asked Questions
The purpose is to establish the first nationally focused Indigenous Led Future Fund and be part of the Global Indigenous Fund movement
The Grant Round will be open all year with applicants being able to summit through an on-line EOI process, for one off small activity/event grants. Or through a verification process for the Community Partnerships Grant.
The website will list the dates of the proposed ABC Future Funds management committee meetings with applicants being informed of the outcome within 7 days following the meetings.
All applications, including small one-off event grants will be managed through the ABC Foundation, with the funding being allocated to the Foundation who will contact the applicants and manage the associated agreements. Responsible for reporting back up to the ABC Future Funds management committee bi-annually on the progress of the grant funding allocations.
All applicants will initially be received via the futurefund@abcau.com.au email monitored by the grants team. The grants team will manage the applicants and working with the partner organisations to prepare the business cases to be presented up to the ABC Future Fund management committee with all applicants received 10 days before the proposed management committee days.
Therefore, last applications reviewed will be 28 days before the proposed management committee dates allocated on the website. With this information provided in the FAQ available on our website.
- Applicants must be an Aboriginal organisation, either a company limited structure, ORIC registered or Incorporated Association, with majority of its membership Aboriginal people.
- The organisation must have a core focus that is in line with the Foundation, organised, conducted or promoted for the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution, helplessness, suffering, misfortune, disability or distress. With either a social or environmental focus.
- The organisation must have a majority of its employees Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Funding is targeted for remote and regional areas across Australia, all projects need to demonstrate its location and the communities/landscape.
- Community Partnership applicants must be a partner of ABC Foundation to receive funding.
- Applicants applying for event funding, can only receive funding once per year if approved and must be located in communities in which ABC Foundation operates.
- Existing ABC Foundation partners do not have to complete an application and can work direct with the Business Partnerships Manager.
The ABC On-Country Programs focus on On-Country Education, On-Country Care, and On-Country Research & Development.
The committee meets a minimum of twice a year, up to four times a year based on funding allocation.
Your application must be submitted 28 days prior to the upcoming comittee meeting.
All applications are managed through the ABC Foundation, with agreements managed by the Foundation as well.
Aboriginal organisations with an ABN, aligning with ABC Foundation vision and strategic priorities.
All applicants must be an Aboriginal organisation with an ABN and the organisation must be able to demonstrate an alignment to ABC Foundation vision and strategic priorities.
As the ABC Future Fund is registered through ACNC as a private benevolent institution (PBI). A PBI is a type of charitable institution which is organised, conducted or promoted for the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution, helplessness, suffering, misfortune, disability or distress.
Applications can be made year-round through the ABC Foundation website using the Future Fund EOI form. For those whom are already ABC Partners, you can contact your Business Partnerships Manager.
