Carbon Farming Webinar 5 – TEK & Fire

This pre-recorded webinar explores Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) in Australia and its importance in understanding and managing landscapes. Drawing on Indigenous knowledge systems developed over thousands of years, the session examines how TEK informs relationships between people, Country, plants, animals, and natural processes. A key focus is the role of fire management, including cultural burning practices and their ecological and cultural significance, as well as the effects of different fire regimes—and the absence of fire—on Australian landscapes The webinar also explores how TEK can inform contemporary approaches to land stewardship, including emerging opportunities in carbon farming and nature repair, and their potential to support biodiversity, ecosystem health, cultural outcomes, and landscape resilience."
